The Karkus was a fictional superhero and the protagonist of a comic strip which originally appeared in the Hourly Telepress in the year 2000. The Karkus possessed superhuman strength and an anti-molecular ray disintegrator, wore a cowl and a short cape, and spoke in a German accent. Zoe Heriot was a fan of the strip. Publication history and merchandising

Action figures of the Karkus were produced, (AUDIO: Iris Wildthyme and the Claws of Santa ^[+]Loading...["Iris Wildthyme and the Claws of Santa (audio story)"]) and he eventually received his own publication.

Izzy Sinclair owned an issue of Karkus, a comic book featuring the Karkus on the front cover. (COMIC: Beautiful Freak ^[+]Loading...["Beautiful Freak (comic story)"])

In her research into the Second Doctor, River Song obtained PROSE: Know Your Enemy ^[+]Loading...["Know Your Enemy (short story)"] a short strip featuring the Karkus. In the Land of Fiction

The Second Doctor and Zoe encountered the Karkus in the Land of Fiction. After Zoe defeated him in unarmed combat, he assisted them in their battle against the Master of the Land. Behind the scenes

A strip featuring the Karkus called "The Karkus in: The Brain of Mavis" was published in issue 57 of The Time/Space Visualiser fanzine published by the New Zealand Doctor Who Fan Club in July 1999.
