Arkright was an English mycologist. He was a close acquaintance of Thomas Carnacki, having met at a boarding school, and much enjoyed Carnacki's stories of the supernatural.
He was followed in his youth, and then again in adulthood, by a sentient fungus which lived around the House, a building on his family's property in Sussex. When it re-emerged, Arkright met the Seventh Doctor, who helped the pair resolve the mystery, and brought them both aboard the TARDIS for the course of the investigation.
