- 1968 - DW: The Wheel in Space, Episode 3, was first broadcast.
- 1974 - DW: Planet of the Spiders, Episode 2, was first broadcast.
- 2001 - Douglas Adams dies from a heart attack in California. Adams wrote the stories, DW: The Pirate Planet and Shada, and co-wrote City of Death with producer Graham Williams under the pseudonym David Agnew. He also served as script editor for Season 17.
