Paterson Joseph (born 22nd June 1964) played Rodrick in DW: Bad Wolf / The Parting of the Ways. Prior to this, he had played Marquis de Carrabas, a rogueish character from the Neverwhere television series frequently compared to the Doctor. Following David Tennant's statement that he would retire from playing the part, he was widely considered the most probable candidate for the role of the Eleventh Doctor before the announcement that the role would go to Matt Smith.
