This untitled short story was a Brief Encounter published in Doctor Who Magazine.
Summary
While Ace travels to London at the turn of the Millennium to look for Doc Martens, the Doctor goes in search of Ian Chesterton. He finds Ian, now an old man, bitter that the place he has worked as a research scientist since the 1960s is closing down. The Doctor, while not revealing his identity, comforts Ian with the news that the King will be re-opening it soon. Returning home, Ian finds that Barbara has also been visited by a familiar stranger, who left a Coal Hill School tie.

Continuity
- As is the case with most other stories depicting or describing Ian and Barbara's lives after they left the TARDIS in 1965 (DW: The Chase), the fact that they appear noticeably older contradicts the rumour that they had not aged since the 1960s, as related to Sarah Jane Smith to Clyde Langer and Rani Chandra.
