Featured Article

Torchwood is a television spin-off of Doctor Who, featuring companion Jack Harkness as the leader of Torchwood 3, a maverick arm of the Torchwood Institute. Since the destruction of Torchwood 1 in the Battle of Canary Wharf, Torchwood 3 is largely autonomous, with little outside interference.

Jack leads a band of alien investigators which including Doctor Owen Harper, police liaison Gwen Cooper, and computer specialist Toshiko Sato, with support services from Ianto Jones. In the second series, the Tenth Doctor's former companion Martha Jones joins the Torchwood team for a short while.

The second series currently airs on the BBC in the UK, and on BBC America in the US.
