Summary

The TARDIS arrives in the middle of the English Civil War 26th July 1643. As the soldiers surround the Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Williams Prince Rupert of the Rhine rides up and declares the battle has been lost and demands their immediate surrender. Unleashing his ‘Dog of War’ a giant poodle the Doctor is quick to warn Rory and Amy to block their ears as the dog emits a bark that manages to freeze the higher brain functions leaving the soldiers unable to move or speak. As Prince Rupert boasts about his remarkable dog ‘Boye’, his soldiers collect up the other sides weapons. Suddenly Boye lunges at the Doctor. Using his sonic screwdriver the Doctor manages to deflect the bark back on the dog leaving it stunned. The stunned dog reveals on his back, a previously invisible, secret rider itself a dog-like creature. Awakening, the creature identified itself as Parzival of the Vegracandis and when challenged to explain its behaviour revealed that it sought to gain influence over the planet by getting close to the King. It’s plan thwarted, the Doctor takes Parzival away with them in the TARDIS to take him home.
