  • 20 - The American spacecraft Apollo 11 lands on the surface of the moon and Neil Armstrong becomes the first (officially recognized) human to set foot on another world (although unknown to Armstrong and the world at large numerous companions of the Doctor had beaten him to the punch). The event is considered a milestone in human history and a stepping stone to later manned exploration of other planets. Martha Jones later claimed that she and the Tenth Doctor viewed the event several times. (DW: Blink).

  • The Doctor, Martha Jones and Billy Shipton are touched by the Weeping Angels and end up in this year. Working with future information given to him by Sally Sparrow, the Doctor contacts Shipton and Kathy Nightingale and arranges for messages to be passed on to Sparrow in 2007, one of which is a recorded message by the Doctor. The exact length of time the Doctor and Martha spend on in 1969 is unknown, but it's long enough for Martha to have to take employment in a shop. Martha tells Billy Shipton that he has the moon landing to look forward to, indicating they arrived prior to 20 July. (DW: Blink)
