  • 10 - Doctor Who and the Ark in Space First Published. Written by Ian Marter, this was the first time an actor involved with the series had composed a novel based upon it; Marter would write several more novelisations before his death less than a decade later.
  • 25 - The first Star Wars film is released. This movie would revolutionize the presentation of science fiction in movies and television, including Doctor Who. Peter Cushing plays Grand Moff Tarkin in the film.
