The Raxacoricofallapatorians are a race of large, calcium based aliens who have faced off with the Ninth Doctor several times.
Bonita Melody Lysette "Bonnie" Langford (born 22nd July, 1964) appeared as the Doctor's companion Mel, debuting in "Terror of the Vervoids," one of the stories in "The Trial of a Time Lord," and departing at the conclusion of "Dragonfire.". She first achieved fame as a child actor, starring in the television series Just William and the film Bugsy Malone.
Raxacoricofallapatorians are roughly humanoid aliens with baby-like faces, a long neck and green skin. They have long arm with three sharp claws. They hatch from large green eggs with strange tendrils. Raxacoricofallapatorians are predators by nature and are excellent trackers. The females of the species can create poison as a last resort, which can be released by a dart-like claw or by their breath. According to The Monsters Inside, they also have a more efficient metabolism. They are nearly 3 metres tall and are much stronger than a human.

Due to their calcium based nature, Raxacoricofallapatorians are vulnerable to acetic acid and react explosively with it. One of the Raxacoricofallapatorian methods of execution is the lowering of the criminal into a cauldron of acetic acid, which is then heated to boiling. The acidity of the solution is formulated to dissolve the skin, allowing the internal organs to drop into the liquid while the condemned is still alive, resulting in a slow and painful death.
Langford was born at Hampton Court, Surrey. She married fellow actor Paul Grunert in 1995 and has one daughter (born 2000).

Her stage work includes Annie, Peter Pan: The Musical, Cats and The Pirates of Penzance. Bonnie was a regular guest (2003-2005) on Sandi Toksvig's weekday lunchtime show on LBC radio and occasionally deputised when Sandi was ill or on holiday. Langford had just completed a run in Peter Pan at the time she was announced as the Doctor's newest companion, and a publicity photo was passed round of Langford in costume as Peter and Colin Baker in costume as the Doctor, "flying" together on wires.
