Arthur Darvill (born Thomas Arthur Darvill on 17 June 1982) is an English actor who played Rory Williams, Amy Pond's fiancé and eventual husband. He also played the Auton duplicate of the same character. He had recurring appearances in series 5 alongside Matt Smith's Doctor, and was later added to the opening credits as a regular for series 6 starting with A Christmas Carol. His character left the TARDIS in The God Complex, but he still had billing in his guest appearances in Closing Time and The Wedding of River Song. He also narrated the BBC audio adventure Ring of Steel. He will be voicing the lead character Sam in the upcoming short film Penguin .

Arthur Darvill was educated at Bromsgrove School, Worcestershire and trained at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. His first television appearance was in ITV drama He Kills Coppers and he met Matt Smith in Swimming With Sharks. Just prior to joining the cast of Doctor Who, he starred alongside Freema Agyeman when playing the role of Edward "Tip" Dorrit in Little Dorrit. He also wrote the 2009 musical Been So Long.

In August 2011, Darvill, alongside Matt Smith and Karen Gillan confirmed he would be returning to Doctor Who for its seventh series. However,in December 2011, it was revealed by Steven Moffatt that Darvill and Gillan, who plays his on-screen wife, Amy would be leaving halfway through series seven. On May 12th 2012, it was confirmed that Darvill and Gillan had completed their filming and has left Doctor Who.

In February 2012, Darvill will become the second companion actor of the revived series (after Noel Clarke) to appear in a Big Finish Productions audio drama when he guest stars in BFBS: Paradise Frost, an episode of the Bernice Summerfield box set, Road Trip. [1]
