Humans are a race of humanoids native to Earth. They are also referred to as Tellurians by some races such as the Androgums and Lurmans, which refers to Tellus, another name for Earth.

Characteristics

Powers and abilities

Humans are special in the universe, since they have an innate skill with time travel, rivaling that of even the Time Lords. (PDA: The Quantum Archangel)

Innate psychic abilities are rare but not unknown. Individual humans might display such psychic powers as psychometry, telepathy, or time-sensitivity. (DW: Planet of the Spiders, Image of the Fendahl, The Unquiet Dead)

By the 26th century, human genetic engineering has eliminated wisdom teeth. (NA:Dry Pilgrimage)

By the 51st century, humans have engineered themselves advanced human pheromones which make them naturally nice-smelling and attractive to others. (TW:Fragments)

Admirable qualities of Humanity

When infused with the Human Factor derived from Human emotions, Daleks developed warm, earnest, even whimsical personalities and ceased to obey orders without question. (DW: The Evil of the Daleks, DWM: Children of the Revolution)

The Doctor praised the species for their indomitable spirit (DW: The Ark in Space, DW: Utopia) and for their daring explorer spirit. (DW: The Impossible Planet).

The dark side of Humanity

The Doctor speculated that the Fendahl had created Humanity and transferred to it a capacity for evil. (DW: Image of the Fendahl)

The War Lords considered Humans the most aggressive and war-like species in all of Mutter's Spiral and hoped to conquer the galaxy with them. (DW: The War Games)

Shocked by the actions of Harriet Jones, the Doctor rhetorically warned the universe of Humanity's imminent spread into the galaxy: "the monsters are coming!" (DW: The Christmas Invasion) The Master also referred to Humanity as "The greatest monsters of them all". (DW: Last of the Time Lords)

Oods were forced into slavery by Ood Operations, a human-run corporation.(DW: Planet of the Ood).

Unusual traits of Humanity

He may have been joking.
Other species, like the Silurians and Sea Devils have also been known to wear clothes. This might suggest that they only wear clothing to deal with the elements.

History

Historical importance

Humans are probably one of the more influential races in the universe. Though not as well traveled as the Time Lords or as powerful as the Daleks, the Human influence was felt throughout the universe. They spread across the universe, setting up colonies, meeting new races and making many advances technologically. In fact, one of the era of the universe (Humanian Era) is named after the Humans.

At some point in their history, the Humans spent millions of years as a gas and time as data before eventually re-evolving into humanoid form. Ultimately, humans would continue to exist until the year 100,000,000,000,000, becoming one of the universe's last surviving races. (DW: Utopia) The last known humans would be mutated by The Master at this time into the Toclafane.

Related species

Humans are an astonishingly long lived species, lasting for trillions of years, despite numerous wars, battles and conflicts. In this time, many new species have developed.

In his eighth incarnation the Doctor is described as being half Human and half Time Lord, so a biological relationship may exist between Humans and Time Lords. Lady Cassandra also mentioned other Human hybrids, though she did not say more about them identified.
