At the San Diego Comic Con in July 2008, Julie Gardner confirmed that the character of Toshiko Sato is deceased, which likely precludes actress Naoko Mori from appearing in Series 3; however it should be noted that she did attend the Torchwood panel event in San Diego, an unusual thing for an actor whose character has been killed off.

The name of the five part series was revealed in the offical Torchwood Magazine as "Children of Earth"
