Eldred was a Saxon farmer from Wulnoth's village. He found The Doctor's TARDIS on the beach. When he came across Vicki Pallister and Steven Taylor, he captured them and brought them to the village. He didn't believe their story and didn't trust Edith's account of her meeting with the First Doctor. When the village was plundered and Edith attacked, he blamed the travellers.
He was wounded in a Viking attack. Wulnoth brought him to the monastery so the Monk could take care of him. When he saw Vikings in the monastery, he escaped to warn Wulnoth. (TV: The Time Meddler)
