Danny Pink was a teacher at Coal Hill School, where he taught mathematics. He had previously been a soldier, and established the Coal Hill Cadet Squad at the school.
A pupil once asked if he had killed anyone, to which Danny implied that he may have killed enemy soldiers. The student then pressed the matter by asking if he had ever killed anyone who was not a soldier. Although he refused to answer, Danny became visibly distressed.
