Danny Pink is a teacher at Coal Hill School, where he teaches mathematics. He had previously been a soldier, and established the Coal Hill Cadet Squad at the school.

A pupil once asked if he had killed anyone, to which Danny implied that he may have killed enemy soldiers. The student then pressed the matter by asking if he had ever killed anyone who was not a soldier. Although he refused to answer, Danny became visibly distressed.

He was introduced to Clara Oswald by Mr Armitage. She asked him to join her for a drink, and he awkwardly embarrassed himself. She later gave him another chance by asking him out to coffee, which he gratefully accepted. (TV: Into the Dalek)
