Vega was a planet inhabited by the Satyr-like Vegans, who were known for being a practical race of miners. Vega was also a member of the Galactic Federation. (TV: The Monster of Peladon)
The planet had produced more mining engineers and pot-holders than practically any other planet in the galaxy (PROSE: Fear of the Dark)
It was known for its x-ray storms, which the Captain used as a curse: "By all the x-ray storms of Vega!" (TV: The Pirate Planet)
