Although Hardaker was killed when the ship was struck, Frame survived the gunshot wound, continuing to keep the ship engines up and running, much to Capricorn's astonishment. Captain Hardaker was the captain of the starship Titanic.
Hardaker was blackmailed by Max Capricorn into magnetising the hull and deactivating the shields, which, in turn, would promptly attract an incoming asteroid shower, for the purpose of asteroids would hit the vessel.
