Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!

We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:

Re: image requests

Hi! Regarding your image request, if you take a look at Tardis:Image use policy, you will see the guidelines for image size. In general, images are only viewed at 250px, so 800px is usually the maximum width allowed, and all screenshots should be widescreen. So I"m not sure if the size you requested would work.

As for the information you added, it's generally better if you only add information from stories you are familiar with, that is, you actually have watched the TV stories or read the comics or novels, etc. Relying on information from others, especially the internet, can cause errors. We recently had someone claim on The Daleks' Master Plan that the First Doctor had a stetson shot off his head — something that this user had no knowledge of, but had simply read it on the internet. If your friend can provide the source for the information you added, it can be placed on the page, as long as the source satisfies Tardis:Valid sources. However, if it comes from a reference book, then it could only be placed in a behind-the-scenes section.

Hi! If you want to put uncredited cast on a story page, you do so by posting the following:

under the cast section. Note that I used three equals signs - it must be a subheading of the cast section. Any uncredited cast you list must be sourced. See The Family of Blood (TV story) for an example of the proper way to cite uncredited cast on story pages.

If it must be sourced, can I use Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia as a "valid" (i.e., not a "Behind the Scenes" source? It does break the fourth wall. Sniping is Awesome^{Defeat the Sniper} 19:39, April 28, 2015 (UTC)

Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia is a valid source for real world articles, which all story pages are, so that's not a problem. You just can't use it for in universe articles.

Also, when replying to another user, it's common practice to reply to other users on their own talk pages. If you reply on your own talk page, the other user might not see your message. Thanks! Shambala108 ☎ 02:30, April 29, 2015 (UTC)

Re: question

Well, that kind of depends on a few things. I don't know the policies at your other wiki, but here we place a priority on story names over reference books or production crew comments, things like that. Also on this wiki, all stories are given valid weight, meaning that we don't place television stories as more important than prose, etc.

If a similar situation happened on this wiki, we would probably go with the technical term over the term that states purpose. For example, the sonic screwdriver has probably been called a lot of things, such as sonic device, but its actual name is sonic screwdriver, so that's what we call it.

You might want to take a look at Template:Conjecture to see how we take care of things that don't really have names in-narrative. That way you could name the article whatever you want, and put up a similar template that explains you don't know the name so you came up with something as close as possible. As far as out-of-universe sources, that would be up to your wiki. If it happens a lot, you might want to consider allowing names on that basis. And I think we do on occasion allow OOU names, like if they come from scripts or production notes, but I think it's usually on a case-by-case basis.

If you do want to use something like the template I mentioned, please first check with User:CzechOut for permission. I don't really know the ins and outs of borrowing material from one wiki to another, and you might have to get his permission before using such a template. Hope this helps!
