Dr Kendrick was a scientist in the employ of John Lumic that oversaw the creation and testing of the prototype Cyberman. Shortly thereafter, he realised Geneva needed to be informed of its creation. Seeing Kendrick as a security hazard, Lumic gave his Cyberman the order to murder him, to which it promptly carried out. (TV: Rise of the Cybermen)
