It was on the way to pregnant Sarah Clark's wedding to Stuart Hoskins that Pete Tyler was killed in a hit-and-run accident. However, when Rose Tyler saved her father's life, time was disturbed, enabling the antibody-like wraiths, the Reapers, to spill into the world of 1987, wiping people out of time and feeding off the resultant Chronal energy. Stuart and Sarah had met when she lost her purse outside the Beatbox Club and couldn't get a cab home. After Pete Tyler sacrificed his life, thus mending the wound in time, the wedding took place, with no one recollecting any of what had occured other than the unfortunate death of Pete outside the church.
