Salvatorio Moretti was father to Vanessa Moretti. He was also the inventor of the GENIEs in the 24th century, and left the prototype in a cardboard box in his workspace (which happened to be the basement) unattended. His daughter was unwittingly transported back in time upon wishing to live in a better place because of this.
