The Loch Ness Monster, also known as Nessie, is a mysterious animal claimed to inhabit Loch Ness, a lake in Scotland and studied by students of cryptozoology.

The Duke of Forgill collected books on the Monster. Two different alien visitants may have contributed to the legend.

The first, the Skarasen, was brought to Earth by the Zygons circa the 11th century. (DW: Terror of the Zygons)

The other is the Borad, who was brought to Earth by from the planet Karfel via the Timelash in 1179. (DW: Timelash)

The Skarasen much more resembles the traditional deciption of the monster.

Sarah Jane Smith, who had encountered the Skarasen, mentioned having done so to Rose Tyler in a successful bid to impress her. (DW: School Reunion)
