The Jathaa were an alien race who used a type of transport known as the Jathaa sunglider.

The Jathaa had interstellar travel capabilities by the late 20th century, and by the 1990s began to visit Earth.

In 1996, a Jathaa Sunglider was shot down by the Torchwood Institute over the North Sea and kept in Torchwood 1 (DW: Army of Ghosts). Its weapons system was back-engineered for use against alien invasions.
