The Atlantic Ocean was an Earth ocean that bordered North America, South America, Europe and Africa.

Distant past
Circa 400,000,000 BC, the area of Earth that would later become the middle of the Atlantic was a vast, rocky wasteland. (TV: City of Death)
Modern era
19th century
While crossing the Atlantic in 1872, the Mary Celeste encountered first the First Doctor and the TARDIS and then the Daleks. The crew abandoned ship to escape the latter. The mysteriously abandoned ship passed into legend. (TV: The Chase)
