Neil Armstrong was an American astronaut and a member of the Apollo 11 mission. As far as the majority of humanity was aware, he was the first man to walk on the Moon on 20 July 1969. (TV: Day of the Moon, PROSE: Who Killed Kennedy)
It was not generally known that dozens of people had set foot on the Moon prior to Armstrong as the United States government had built a moonbase on the far side of the Moon in the 1960s using alien technology. It was destroyed by the Sixth Doctor on 23 November 1963. (AUDIO: 1963: The Space Race) Furthermore, the Sixth Doctor and Peri Brown visited Mare Nectaris on the Moon in 1872. (AUDIO: The First Sontarans)
The Eleventh Doctor interfered with the transmission of the Moon landing with the help of the former FBI agent Canton Everett Delaware III. At the crucial moment that Armstrong set foot on the Moon, they inserted footage of a Silent ordering for its kind to be killed on sight. (TV: Day of the Moon)
After planting the flag on the Moon upon leaving Apollo 11, Armstrong heard "a kind of wheezing, groaning noise", which seemed to make the flag flutter in the vacuum. (PROSE: Blue Moon)
When the Monks invaded Earth they broadcast a fake history implying that they were on the Moon to greet Neil Armstrong. (TV: The Lie of the Land)
Martha Jones claimed that she and the Tenth Doctor had witnessed Armstrong walking on the Moon four times. (TV: Blink)
