The House of the Rising Sun was a brothel founded by Mrs Foyle.
Using a labyrinth she obtained through unknown methods, she advertised the House as the "brothel for the discerning time-active gentleman or lady. She registered the business on Friedman's World after they decriminalised all profitable activities on the planet.
The brothel was located on the most prosperous of the twenty-eight thousand New Earths. However, the interior was modelled on timeship transdimensional engineering and connected to the labyrinth. There were many sub-brothels it could access on numerous planets and time periods.
Unfortunately, her understanding of the technology was flawed, causing clients sometimes to not go where they wanted or even get killed by the time winds. Thus it was very quickly a losing proposition.
The House did enable her to make numerous contacts that allowed her to start the far more successful Remonstration Bureau. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
