Behind the scenes

Scream of the Shalka

Though not considered part of the Doctor Who universe by this wiki, Scream of the Shalka was set in the fictional Lancashire village of Lannet. An alternative Ninth Doctor visited the village where he met Alison Cheney and defeated the Shalka. (NOTVALID: Scream of the Shalka/NOTVALID: Scream of the Shalka)

County borders

The ill-defined borders of Lancashire within the DWU can be a cause of confusion. In the real world, Lancashire was historically a much larger county than it is today. Following a reform of county boundaries in 1974, Manchester and Liverpool - cities which were historically in Lancashire - became part of Greater Manchester and Merseyside respectively; the historical north of Lancashire was merged with Cumberland and Westmorland to form Cumbria.

Cast and crew

Cast members Peter Purves and Jenna Coleman were born in Lancashire. Christopher Eccleston and Bernard Cribbins were born in former boroughs of Lancashire which have since been incorporated into Greater Manchester.
