The Regeneration circuit was a component of K-9's that enabled him to, (if destroyed), rebuild himself. He did this in 2050, but lost most of his memory as a result of th regeneration, and it is unknown whether he remembers Romana and Leela, his two mistresses from his time on Galifrey. (K9TV: Regeneration)
- K-9 may have been fitted with the regeneration circuit during his time on Gallifrey, and probably by Romana, as Leela doesn't seem smart enough; this does not appear to be a standard feature for all K-9s, such as K-9 Mark III who sacrificed himself but did not regenerate and was instead replaced.
