Kublai Khan, (TV: Marco Polo, etc.) also spelt Kubla Khan, (PROSE: Iris Wildthyme y Señor Cientocinco contra Los Monstruos del Fiesta) was an emperor of the Mongols and the grandson of Genghis Khan.

Biography

Within the City of the Saved, Kublai Khan ruled a District in the Chinatowns. The capital of his District was Ta-Tu. Pu Yi worked as a gardener in his pleasure grounds. (PROSE: The Night is Long, and Dreams Are Legion)

In 1289, the First Doctor, Ian Chesterton, Barbara Wright and Susan Foreman met Kublai Khan. During this adventure, Marco Polo tried to claim the Doctor's TARDIS for the Khan. In Peking, the Doctor lost the TARDIS to Kublai Khan in a game of backgammon, a game the Khan's wife claimed aggravated his gout. The Doctor made Polo aware that the war lord Tegana was working against the Khan, and Polo stopped Tegana from assassinating the Khan. (TV: Marco Polo)

Personality

When asked if Kublai Khan would be angry if the caravan were to be delayed, Marco Polo responded by saying "of course he will". His two great passions were hunting and falconry and his stables were said to house ten thousand white stallions.
