Prelude Shadowmind was, as the name suggested, a prelude to Shadowmind by Christopher Bulis. It did not appear in the published novel.

Summary

Garyl Manten is injured in a fall. He is forced to miss the CSS Broadsword's trial flight.

Toni Pandril takes his place. She strikes up an acquaintance with another ship's officer, Nicholas Cort.
