Ian Reddington played the chief clown in the Doctor Who television story The Greatest Show in the Galaxy. He later voiced Nobody No-One in the Big Finish Doctor Who audio story A Death in the Family, and reprised his role as the Chief Clown in The Psychic Circus.

Outside of Doctor Who, he is best known for playing market inspector Richard "Tricky Dicky" Cole on EastEnders from 1992 to 1994; and hapless musician/pub assistant Vernon Tomlin on Coronation Street from 2005 to 2008.
