Matthew Corbett (born 28 March 1948[1]) played Jones in the Doctor Who story The Dæmons.

He was born Peter Corbett, but had to change his first name to Matthew during the 1960s as there was already a Peter Corbett registered with the British actors' union Equity.

Corbett is best known for presenting The Sooty Show for almost twenty-five years, having taken over from his father Harry Corbett in the 1970s, before his retirement in 1998 and passing the mantle of Sooty over to Richard Cadell the following year.

During his time as the show's leading man, he created the character of Little Cousin Scampi in the 1990s.
