Clement was an ally of Arius. A fishmonger, he provided secret lodgings for the contentious Christian leader in Nicaea in 325. Against Arius' wishes, he killed a man in defence of Arius' ideas. He also physically defended Erimem against Constantine's guards, and was briefly thought killed for his troubles. As the Fifth Doctor diagnosed, however, the wound had not, in fact, damaged any major organs. He later accompanied Arius and Erimem on their march to Constantine's palace.
