Madeira

Madeira was a location on Earth. In the 1890s, it was an idyllic tourist destination for those wealthy enough to afford the trip there.

The New Zealand Shipping Company offered a trip to Madeira aboard their Royal Mail Steamers from London or Plymouth. The trip would also visit destinations including New Zealand, Australia and Cape Town. An advert for the trip appeared in an 1890s copy of The Times. (TV: Deep Breath)

The Fifth Doctor once found what he referred to as a 1784 Madeira in the TARDIS wine cellar. (AUDIO: The Haunting of Thomas Brewster)
