House Catherion was an ancient ruling House which, like House Ixion, began a long, slow decline and death after the anchoring of the thread.

A grotesque massacre took place at the House following the escape of a babel, leaving only one survivor behind as it mutilated and restructured its victims.

The House's breeding-engine, which had been used to create the babel, was destroyed following the massacre. As well as preventing the production of more babels, this also meant there would be no further generations loomed to the House. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
