Raoul Chaplet was Anne Chaplet's younger brother, born circa 1558. In March 1562, the siblings survived the massacre of Huguenots at the church in Wassy by jumping from the roof onto a hayrick. Their father, however, died in the fire.
The Chaplets went to Paris, living with their aunt in her modest home on the rue des Fossés Saint Jacques, near Montparnasse. In August 1572, Raoul and his aunt were arrested by Catholic soldiers on Simon Duval's command and taken to the Abbot of Amboise's dungeon, later being joined by Anne. The First Doctor and Steven Taylor were able to free them, with the Doctor then telling them to go to Picardy to avoid the St Bartholomew's Day massacre. (PROSE: The Massacre)
