Will Buckland was the Director of the British Space Defence Centre in Devesham, and was Dorothy McShane's ex-boyfriend.

He would have been the first British man on the moon if the ESA funding hadn't been cut.

He and Dorothy met at a fundraising event in the City of London, and according to her they 'hit it off immediately'. They dated for almost a year before Dorothy ended it, but he still called her 'Dot' afterwards.

When the Transit Station showed up on the Centre's scanners without warning, he prepared to send a probe to investigate. When Dororthy called him from her Hypergreen, he picked up after two rings and joked about restarting their relationship. He reluctantly agreed to her being on the probe when it launched, and gave in to her when she requested that it would be just the two of them, on the basis that she could get them to the moon faster than any other mission.
