Catherine Morshead directed the Doctor Who stories Amy's Choice and The Lodger for series 5. She has directed many episodes of British television in a career stretching back to 1990. One of her earliest jobs was directing Frazer Hines on Emmerdale Farm. In the 1990s, she also directed episodes of Heartbeat, Casualty and The Bill. In 1999, she was nominated for a BAFTA for Playing the Field, co-starring Lesley Sharp.




In the 2000s, she directed episodes of Cutting It with Sarah Parish; Shameless with Dean Lennox Kelly; The Amazing Mrs Pritchard with Carey Mulligan; Fairy Tales; Mutual Friends with Marc Warren and Alexander Armstrong; Ashes to Ashes, co-created by Matthew Graham, produced by Piers Wenger and Beth Willis and co-starring Keeley Hawes and Marshall Lancaster; and Murderland co-starring Yasmin Paige.
