When he first saw them he was inspired to built his Niagara Generator, which was completed by 1903. Tesla started his presentation of the generator in front of the Niagara Falls. In an InnerSpace interview for series 10, Peter Capaldi commented that he hopes Doctor Who films at Niagara Falls. Capaldi felt it's a location he's not seen on film or television in a while, when it used to be quite popular.
