Joe Payne, (PROSE: Attack of the Cybermen, Mistaken Identity) nicknamed Coffin Nail Joe due to his smoking habit, (PROSE: Attack of the Cybermen) was a criminal employed by Gustave Lytton for what he believed was a bank robbery in 1985. While in the London sewers, he was attacked and killed by a Neomorph Cyberman. (TV: Attack of the Cybermen)
Behind the scenes
Payne's full name wasn't given in his television appearance. His first name comes from the Target Books novelisation of Attack of the Cybermen, and was reused in the Brief Encounter short story Mistaken Identity.
