James Ellis (15 March 1931-8 March 2014[1]) played Peter Warmsly in the Doctor Who television story Battlefield.

He was previously considered for the roles of Lord Ravensworth in The Mark of the Rani and Orcini in Revelation of the Daleks. (TCH 41)

Career Highlights

Hs best known role was undoubtedly that of PC, later Inspector, Bert Lynch on police procedural Z-Cars, a role he played for over sixteen years.
