Carey Mulligan (born 28 May 1985[1]) played Sally Sparrow in the Doctor Who television story Blink.
Steven Moffat stated in an interview in December 2017 with the Radio Times that, following the success of Blink, Mulligan was offered the chance to join the show full-time as a companion, which she declined.
In 2021, she appeared in the Red Nose Day sketch 2020: The Movie.
Career

In 2009, Mulligan's star began to rise internationally as her film, An Education, opened to acclaim at major film festivals and she appeared on major US programmes like Late Show with David Letterman to promote it. In October 2009, Mulligan received the Hollywood Breakthrough Actress Award at the 2009 Hollywood Awards. She received a Best Actress nomination for the 2010 Golden Globe Awards, but lost to Sandra Bullock. On 2 February 2010 she became the fifth Doctor Who actor to be nominated for an Academy Award when she was nominated in the Best Actress category, but again lost to Bullock.
On 21st February 2010 she won the BAFTA for Best Leading Actress presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts for her role in An Education.
She also featured in Oliver Stone's sequel to Wall Street. In 2011 she featured in the film Drive. Most recently co-starred in the 2013 film version of The Great Gatsby.
