- Series 4 of Doctor Who has been confirmed for 2008.
- Gareth Hunt, who played Arak in "Planet of the Spiders," has died from pancreatic cancer at age 64.
- Series 3 of Doctor Who will premiere 31st March, 2007.
- During a guest slot hosting BBC Radio 2, John Barrowman mentioned that Torchwood will return in 2008. He also played the song "Love Don't Roam" featured on the soundtrack to The Christmas Invasion.
- Peter "PJ" Hammond, author of the Torchwood episode Small Worlds which featured fairies, said in a recent interview that the Torchwood production team would like him to write another "supernatural" story for series two. Hammond also wrote an outline for Paradise Five, an un-produced submission which would have formed part of The Trial of a Time Lord storyline of Doctor Who. He is most famous for creating (and writing nearly all of) the classic science fantasy time travel program Sapphire & Steel which aired from 1979 to 1982.
- On May 2 2007 the BBC Trust will come to a decision about allowing the BBC to offer downloads of their programs, including Doctor Who. It is uncertain if that deal would or would not include spin-offs. If approved, this could start to happen in the next year.
- The Doctor's clothes up for auction! Original costumes belonging to the Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Doctors, along with the Ninth Doctor's (faux) leather jacket, will come up for bid on March 6 2007. Included with the Fourth Doctor's outfit is a vintage sonic screwdriver prop made of a pen and a toothpaste cap spray painted silver.

The series will run alongside the new season and feature David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones. Anthony Stewart Head, who previously appeared as a Time Lord Valentine in Death Comes to Time and alien headmaster Mr. Finch in School Reunion, will guest star as an enitrely new villain, Baltazar.

The Tenth Doctor came into existence after the Ninth Doctor absorbed all the energy of the Time Vortex, an act which began destroying every cell in his body, triggering a regeneration. He spent most of his time sleeping during the events of the Sycorax invasion of Earth while recovering from his regeneration. Like his predecessor, the Tenth Doctor is capable of boundless enthusiasm, though in his case often at inappropriate times. He retains and even exceeds the Ninth Doctor's capacity for righteous anger, especially when Rose is threatened, though he is more guarded when speaking of their future together. While he seems to have resolved the survivor guilt felt by the Ninth Doctor, the Tenth is beginning to feel his age and, behind the outward playfulness, he feels a deep loneliness. His keen sense of loss leads him to empathise with those who have also suffered.
