Meera Syal (born 27 June 1961[1]) played Dr Nasreen Chaudhry in the two-part Doctor Who story The Hungry Earth/Cold Blood. She also read the audio story The Gemini Contagion and the audiobook release of the novel Borrowed Time.
She is married to Sanjeev Bhaskar.
She also wrote the Doctor Who skit on The Real McCoy.
Syal is perhaps best known for the sketch show Goodness Gracious Me, which she co-wrote and starred in with Bhaskar and Nina Wadia.
In the 2015 New Year Honours, Meera Syal was made an MBE for services to drama and literature.[1]
