TARDIS changes

"It has been rumoured that this incarnation will change the interior of the TARDIS and he may even fix the chameleon circuit."

What? Where is this from? I've removed this until someone can show a citation... and even then, it should likely be in the Series 5 section and not the Eleventh Doctor.

Beyond that, it's just ridiculous. The interior might well change. Wouldn't surprise me. The exterior might change slightly, but it will always be a blue police box. They're smarter than changing that.

MAY-BE the chameleon circuit gets fixed. For one or two episodes. Beyond that, I just don't see it happening - or being used much. --TheOmnius 17:42, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

It could also be possible the return of the Time Lords in the End of Time are what causes the TARDIS' cosmetic changes, because Nine and Ten relied on makeshift devices to make the console switches etc. BlueBox 02:33, December 31, 2009 (UTC)

The TARDIS interior and exterior both undergo change. I have seen the pictures of filming, and at some point during series 5, the exterior is changed, and the new exterior looks is very similar to how the First Doctor's TARDIS appeared, and has the sticker thing. It is a somewhat lighter sahde of blue, too. The size is the same, however. The new exterior is somewhat dark in colouring, similar to how it is now. The new interior appears to have an upstairs in the main area, and has a space-age sort of look. It wasn't a full-blown big picture, it was a picture in a picture. On filming, they put a picture of the TARDIS interior inside the TARDIS so that, when filming, the interior can be seen from the outside, and it has changed quite a lot from what I saw. At the end of The End of Time we see the TARDISes windows blow up and the interior being wrecked, that is proof enough.

Well it isn't really. In DW: Voyage of the Damned we see that the Titanic went through the TARDIS but the Doctor simply used a TARDIS control to repair the ship. Furthermore, there are promotional shoots of the Eleventh Doctor standing outside the Blue Police Box, the only change is the St. John's Ambulance sticker has been added and the windows have changed slightly, also the paint colour is a lighter shade of blue. Jackson Lake

I just watched The Next Doctor and it's clear that Jackson thinks he's the Eleventh Doctor (even if the exact circumstances are muddy), as his "memory flashback" shows the Tenth Doctor "regenerating" into him. I think it's worth noting here. This will be a more minor part of the article once more detail about the true Eleventh Doctor is added over time. 23skidoo 04:42, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

I know this is a little late, but Jackson doesn't think he is the 11th Doctor, he just thinks he is 'the' doctor. He barely recognises any of the previous one including 10, when he is show the info-stamp of the doctor. He just states that the 10th is on the info-stamp. Jackson Lake did state that the Cybermen made him "regenerate" in the movie. You are right about the fact that he wasn't familiar with the other incarnations of the Doctor, but he was most certainly aware of the regeneration process, as he directly stated it. Actually, at no point did Jackson Lake mention regeneration in the episode, he merely stated that the 10th Doctor was there plus he had very vague memories of the events, but it is unclear whether he knew about regeneration Ooiue 07:43, April 22, 2010 (UTC)

Good call on the lockdown, although its a shame people can't just add stuff properly rather than add rubbish, I can say the first two are rubbish from logic and an interview. One - why would Rose return? she has her doctor and her happy ending, also, along with the second statement stephen moffat said none of the old stuff would return except the daleks, i think that it was on the official site.

Daleks??

"Clips from the filming of the series 5 Dalek story reveal that Matt Smith will, unlike Tennant, use his real accent. The clips also feature the Eleventh Doctor referencing Doomsday and Journey's End, ending speculation that he will be a younger version of the First Doctor, not the one following Ten."

I completely agree. What fools thought he was a younger First Doctor when he's been called by everyone the Eleventh Doctor? That's as annoying as everyone thinking Rose, Donna, River Song, Lady Christina, Jenny and just about every female character in new Doctor Who is the flipping Rani! Sorry, rant over. *Ahem*. But yeah, don't include the Dah-Leks (the way Matt Smith (horribly) pronounces it) until the BBC have confirmed them appearing. Rumoured castings

Unlike the David Tennant casting, which came so quickly there was no time for media speculation, we had months of UK media reporting rumours - often as "fact" - that certain actors were either in the running to be cast, or even officially cast. Paterson Joseph, of course, is the name most people remember. But I just noticed that Colin Salmon was reported by one publication as a contender, too. Obviously we'd have to restrict this to actual media, as opposed to newsgroups, fan blogs, etc., and should include sources for every name, but I think it would be interesting, and valuable, to add a "Behind the Scenes" listing of the actors reported as being in the running. On Wikipedia I collaborated on an article that kept track of the different actors being considered to play James Bond before Daniel Craig was cast, and it was a very interesting article. 23skidoo 13:27, December 16, 2009 (UTC)

It would perhaps be interesting as a sub-section of the behind the scenes section. Though lists can be somewhat lengthy affairs and might overshadow the article, especially one as short as this one. is it actuality the 11th regeneration of our favourite time lord or is it the 10th you wonder why i say this because as he was with William hartnel he was in his 1st boy 0 regenerations but he did kind of regenerate in the penultimate episode of series four but does that class as a regeneration or not because it didn't go full cycle also i would like to know how in this regeneration he virtually destroyed his tardis but Christopher ecleson to David tenant (9th to 10th) it didn't--Ajax752 20:21, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

It's the 10th Regen, 11th Body. Series 4 regen may or may not count, we don't know. And the reason he wrecked the TARDIS was possibilty either a) the radiation b0 the fact it got to "build up" c) the extra emotional state of the DOctor, or d) Other. Excalibur-117 20:28, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

I don't know whether all that radiation is bigger than the Time Vortex. lol. But it's only in the new series that regeneration is even nearly similar from case to case. They made it slightly different in all three regenerations we've seen - the Master's was more red than orange, and now the Tenth is more explosive I guess. BlueBox 20:26, January 1, 2010 (UTC)

He did say it in the trailer and lastly at the end of the episode, so presumably it is a new catchphrase. Should it be added?

I would say geronimo is definatly at least one of the new catchphrases, he states it in the trailer as well as in the end of time and on his character page. I know its your opinion excalibur, but ithe opinion may have been the same with allons-y first was used, although the development was a little later than in his first appearance like Matt Smith's, I think it was episode three or four before it was first used.

From watching the advert alone, we know that the Eleventh Doctor doesn't have as much of a deal about using weapons as Ten did - I mean, he punched a man in the face! xD Someone who can want to put it up as speculation? BlueBox 01:36, January 2, 2010 (UTC)

After his regeneration the Eleventh clearly says "I'm someone...I'm someone...important... I'm crashing!!!". Every new Doctor experiences some degree of disorientation in his earliest minutes of existance, but the Tenth, "born" in very similar circumstances, made a point to describe to Rose Tyler as many memories as he could... maybe we would expect some major lags in his memory in the future? However, I dunno if it's enough relevant to be set as part of his regeneration, at least of a mention, like the mild "insanity" shown by the Fifth in attacking Peri, or the enhanced lag preceding the regeneration of the Seventh into the Eight --217.201.210.160 14:00, January 2, 2010 (UTC)

I think that is definately going to be a marked contrast between the 10th and 11th with the 'violence' issue (although i don't think violence is the right word), however we don't know the full context of the situations untill the episodes air, so any speculation may have to wait untill then, but it will be a definate point to note in his personality

Trailer

Despite my comment in the above thread, I think we're safe mentioning what's seen in the official BBC trailer as long as it's noted that we don't know the context of the scenes yet. For example, the shot with him firing a gun - we don't know what he's firing at (if anything) and it's been pointed out that could just as easily be a flare gun. Clothing error

The article says that the 11th is the second Doctor to steal his clothes from a hospital, citing the Eighth as the other. He is, in fact, the third to do so. The Third Doctor stole his clothes from a hospital in Spearhead from Space.

Sonic Screwdriver Skill

It was noted in his personality that the Eleventh seems rather unskilled with his new sonic screwdriver, but I beg to differ. Or suggest that I should. Whenever he uses it, he looks at it, and I thought he was merely reading data or interpreting its reactions to it rather than being puzzled by it. Also, in The Beast Below, he not only uses the screwdriver as a torchlight but also to make the star whale's cries audible to human ears. Doctor's new accent.

I wish to point out that the eleventh Doctor has become posher and more retro, much like his earlier incarnations. Although he seems to have knowledge of 21st century pop culture, he has lost some of his more 'working class' traits of the ninth and tenth Doctors. Whereas the ninth spoke with a brash Northern English Accent and the tenth had an Estuary accent, the eleventh Doctor seems to speak in a posher way, closer to the RP accents of the first 6 Doctors.
