Malcolm lived in Lichyrwick with his mother and sister. When he was young, his sister died of a heart condition shortly after Malcolm had let the Lichyrwick creature into their house. Malcolm believed this was the creature's doing, and blamed himself for her death.
When the Ninth Doctor visited Lichyrwick he and Malcolm discovered that the creature was visiting Malcolm's house every night. They later tracked the creature down and found that it was injured. The creature believed Malcolm was the only person in the town who could help it with its injuries, and when Malcolm did so the Doctor took the creature away from the Earth in his TARDIS. Malcolm later thanked the Doctor, and spent the rest of his life reminiscing about their adventure. (AUDIO: The Lichyrwick Abomination)
