I got around to reading the commentary for this story in the graphic novel collection, hoping to find a mention of this alleged "authorial intent" of it taking place towards the end of series 8. The closest thing I could find was the revelation that Jacqueline Rayner wrote the story under the mindset of it potentially being Clara's final DWM strip (it had not yet been decided if Clara would be returning after ''Last Christmas''). I ''suppose'' one could interpret this to mean Rayner wrote the story with a pre-''Dark Water'' setting in mind, but I'm not sure. I noticed that most of the Doctors had their appearance in the Lego Dimensions trailer listed on their timelines, and went about looking up gameplay: I noticed that the only way to actually play as the pre-Capaldi Doctors is to die as him, at which points he regenerates through them in a looping sequence that begins with Hartnell. While this retro-regeneration is obviously a gameplay abstraction, I wonder if it's cleaner to simply mention this on the Twelfth Doctor's page as a strange effect of being in the Lego Dimension(s), and thus remove the trailer cameos from the other Doctor's pages?
It'd neatly solve a few other continuity issues: the Fourth Doctor uses both his main and secondary control rooms interchangeably, the Fifth has sonic screwdriver but a post-''The Five Doctors'' console, The Sixth and (young) Seventh have sonic screwdrivers at all, Eight has his ''Time of The Doctor'' outfit but longer hair, War's idle animation has him shooting NO MORE into the ground, Eleven's TARDIS has a crack in time on the view-screen. Oh, and every Doctor can only speak in a few archived voice lines, but I'm pretty sure that's not unique to Lego Dimensions. I feel a good watsonian explanation for these abstractions would be something like "Strangely, the Doctor is able to retro-regenerate in a loop through his first twelve regenerations, while the TARDIS follows suite" makes a bit more sense.
There is actual in-game evidence in one line the Twelfth Doctor can say upon respawning (according to the LD wiki, at least) is ''“I suppose you expected me to come back with a bow tie and some 'entertaining' hair?”'', which only makes sense if the Doctor is aware that the Lego Dimension is causing him to regenerate into previous incarnations. Plaqcement of DWM comics[[edit source]]

Just an observation but the impression I got is that no DWM strips take place during serie 9 as the doctor is still using the sonic scrudriver wich was abandoned at the beginning of the series and when the sonic changers Clara diserpieara from the strip mening the DWM strip skips series 9 as a storey placement intierley 2.26.207.241talk to me 22:03, October 5, 2016 (UTC)

The only problem with that assumption is that Titan Comics have shown that the Doctor did use his green sonic screwdriver after the events of The Witch's Familiar. At the very least, Witch Hunt takes place in series 9. In Witch Hunt, Clara's native time is October, while Clara Oswald and the School of Death is set in September and is set after The Zygon Inversion. CoT ? 23:15, October 10, 2016 (UTC)
Are we sure Clara and the Doctor always travel synchronously? Fwhiffahder 03:20, October 11, 2016 (UTC)
The TV series sure suggests they do. Is there any reason to not be sure they do? It's far from impossible that the Doctor had the TARDIS make another screwdriver. According to Big Bang Generation, the TARDIS regularity makes the Doctor new screwdrivers. CoT ? 13:03, October 11, 2016 (UTC)
They meet so irregularly that I'd be more surprised if they didn't get it out of order now and then. Even on TV he can't get her a coffee in a timely manner. I think it makes more sense for green screwdriver stuff to be pre-S9, Big Bang Generation notwithstanding. Fwhiffahder 14:32, October 11, 2016 (UTC)
the problem with the using the data is that there are two meeney inconsistencies like the fact that in series 8 was said to take place in 2016 but titan uses the viewers present or the fact that Kate's 1st encounter with the doctor in the power of 3 was set in 2017 yet day of the doctor was set in 20132.26.207.241talk to me 20:19, October 11, 2016 (UTC)

Rethinking Lego Dimensions[[edit source]]

It'd neatly solve a few other continuity issues: the Fourth Doctor uses both his main and secondary control rooms interchangeably, the Fifth has sonic screwdriver but a post-The Five Doctors console, The Sixth and (young) Seventh have sonic screwdrivers at all, Eight has his Time of The Doctor outfit but longer hair, War's idle animation has him shooting NO MORE into the ground, Eleven's TARDIS has a crack in time on the view-screen.

There is actual in-game evidence in one line the Twelfth Doctor can say upon respawning (according to the LD wiki, at least) is “I suppose you expected me to come back with a bow tie and some 'entertaining' hair?”, which only makes sense if the Doctor is aware that the Lego Dimension is causing him to regenerate into previous incarnations.
