Androvax was a Veil and the last of his species outside of suspended animation. Due to his actions on Earth, he became an enemy of Sarah Jane Smith, who, in a turn of events, later aided him in his attempts to restore the Veil.
Biography
Androvax left his planet to travel the stars and returned to find his race extinct after their sun was extinguished. Distraught over the loss of his world, he grew jealous of other species, and sought to destroy their planets, teaching them what he had come to believe: that the truth of the universe was destruction. He became the highest on the Judoon's most wanted list, being wanted in five galaxies for twelve counts of global destruction. (TV: Prisoner of the Judoon) He was caught on the planet Ordos where he was attempting to take the vormelimutant fish, who ran the lewian galactic power network. (WC: Alien File: Androvax)
Captain Tybo put him into his prison ship, but during transport the ship crashed on Earth, allowing Androvax to escape. He knocked out Tybo and escaped, taking over the body of a young girl. However, when Sarah Jane Smith detected him, he revealed himself, stunned Sarah Jane and entered her body instead. He then returned to her home in Sarah Jane's body and instructed Mr Smith to self destruct, before proceeding to the Genetec Systems and instructing the microscopic nanoforms to build him a ship.
Androvax was finally caught when Luke threatened to sabotage the ship, and ultimately stopped the Nanoforms from destroying the planet. Androvax was then sentenced to execution. (TV: Prisoner of the Judoon)
At Androvax's trial, he was told that he wasn't the last of the Veil, but instead there were 100 Veil in a hyperdimensional vault on Earth. He was sent to a swamp planet in the Calysteral cluster where a fellow prisoner gave him an activator disk for the vault. He escaped the planet, but he was fatally poisoned by a Moxolon Swamp Viper. He attempted to get into the vault and was hunted by the Men in Black, but then learned that he needed a second disk. He enlisted Sarah Jane and her friends for help, not telling her that the process would annihilate the planet. Body jumping between the Bannerman Road gang and Gita, he opened the Vault and boarded the spaceship with the 100 last Veil and was transmatted out to space by Mister Dread, preventing Earth's destruction, and took off in search of a new home. (TV: The Vault of Secrets)
Legacy
In 2009, Rani Chandra saw an alien inside the Krulius spaceship which she thought was Androvax. The alien was stored inside a data-pod. The Krulius later told her that he had managed to take clone cell samples of his former captured aliens with him, which allowed him to grow perfect copies of these aliens. (COMIC: Return of the Krulius)
When cyborg hacker Psi was attempting to protect Clara Oswald from the Teller, he ensured that it would focus on him by uploading the memories of some of the worst criminals in history, one of them being Androvax. (TV: Time Heist)
Clyde Langer had a drawing of Androvax in Sarah Jane's attic. (WC: Attic Padz)
Abilities
Androvax's species were capable of "body-snatching", literally jumping into another being's body and taking complete control of that individual, though some, like Sarah Jane Smith, were able to resist to a certain degree. While in a host body, Androvax was able to stick out his own forked tongue, and was capable of locating and accessing memories that had been suppressed. (TV: Prisoner of the Judoon, The Vault of Secrets) When he was stricken by the Moxolon Swamp Viper's venom, Androvax was able to briefly increase his stamina by leaping into a host body. (TV: The Vault of Secrets) Androvax was also able to stun his victims through a touch to the forehead. Androvax himself was quite cunning, evidently from his Two-By-Four approach to improvise with whatever he had access to, single-handedly destroying twelve planets and avoiding the Judoon for a undetermined period of time, taking advantage of the nanoforms and Mr Smith. (TV: Prisoner of the Judoon)
Personality
Androvax acted outwardly cold, cruel and malicious, deeming the purpose of the universe to be destruction and did what he could to create as much of it as possible. Underneath it all however, Androvax was lonely and depressed; it was heavily implied by Sarah Jane that he caused death and destruction to ease his own suffering. (TV: Prisoner of the Judoon) When he learned that some of his species had survived, he became incredibly determined to save them and no less willing to destroy the Earth to do so. He was also misanthropic and explained that the ordeal that had destroyed his planet had taught him that "the truth of the universe" was destruction. (TV: The Vault of Secrets)
Hosts
Behind the scenes
- The Eleventh Doctor rescued an Ood from the middle of the Androvax conflict. Whether this conflict was related to Androvax the Veil is unknown. (WC: Pond Life)
- Androvax appeared along with Kudlak and a Graske in the video game Monster Morpher, the three foes having seemingly made an alliance. Androvax announced that the Earth would be theirs in 12 hours and the trio proceeded to laugh sinisterly. They were interrupted by Sarah Jane, who revealed them to be Rani, Luke, and Clyde respectively, using some sort of holographic device to pose as their old enemies. Androvax would be the only one of those three foes to return, unless one counts the appearance of the Groske in Death of the Doctor.
- The two episodes Androvax appeared in both include elements relating to Dreamland.
