Washington DC

Washington DC, also spelt Washington, D.C., was the federal capital city of the United States of America on Earth.

History

19th century

In August 1814, Washington DC was attacked by the invading British. The White House and the Library of Congress were both burned in the process. (AUDIO: Washington Burns)

On 11 April 1865, Abraham Lincoln gave his final public address in the wake of the end of the American Civil War. (PROSE: Blood and Hope) Four days later, the Sixth Doctor and Evelyn Smythe travelled to the city to fix changes to history made by Robert Knox, including Lincoln's assassination. 20th century

In 1951, after being sequestered by intelligence agencies, the Eighth Doctor found himself needing to report to people in Washington, not long after visiting Moscow in Russia. (PROSE: Endgame)

In 1969, the Eleventh Doctor helped President Richard Nixon to fight the Silents. (TV: The Impossible Astronaut, Day of the Moon) Future versions of Amy and Rory Williams travelled from New York City to Washington DC to view the events of their past. They later described this to Chrissie Allen as a vacation in Washington where they had friends and family who were going through a hard time. (PROSE: The Girl Who Never Grew Up)

Washington DC was one of ten major cities across the world, all of which had underground railways, where Coldfire Construction built a reactor within a period of 18 months as part of a plot by the Slitheen to drain the Sun's energy, operated by at least one Slitheen disguised using a skin suit made from a local. At some point in the 21st century, after Sarah Jane Smith foiled the Slitheen with the help of her friends at Park Vale Comprehensive School at Ealing in London, she contacted UNIT so they would clear up the Coldfire sites. Alan Jackson moved here with his daughter Maria Jackson from their old home in the Ealing district of London. In the 22nd century, Washington DC was attacked by CEREBRA, which took control of the minds of approximately 700,000 people in the city. However, it was defeated by the Seventh Doctor and Ace. (AUDIO: Washington Burns)

26th century

By the 26th century, Washington DC had been renamed Oceanic City. (AUDIO: Scorpius)

41st century

Alternate timeline

In an alternate 2106 where the New Dalek Paradigm invaded Earth starting with London using a piece of the Eternity Clock, Washington was among the major cities where Daleks were deposited to via transmat. (GAME: The Eternity Clock)
